1)However it was  difficult to build very tall buildings because  thebricks were not strong enough.2)in 1885 the world`s first skyscraper  a ten-storey office building opened in Chicago .3)Then  in 1852 Elisha Oits invented the elevator and in the 1880s engineers developed a new buildings  technique using steel.4)In big cities such as Chicago and New York that needed  living space for families and offices for businesses skyscrapers were the perfect solution.5)In fact  the word skyscraper comes from the the name  sailors gave to the tallest  mast on a ship 6)Between 1930and 1931 the Empire State Building grew  almost  one floor higher every day.The 3.400 men who worked  on it finished it in 14 months 7)Astana the capital of Kazakhstan also has its share of skyscrapers .The triumph of Astana is one of the most impressive.It was completed in 2006 and has 39 floors with shops offices apartments and a hotel.

• Architect- a person qualified to design buildings and to superintend their erection

• Journalist- a person whose occupation is journalism

•  Musician-a person who plays or composes music, esp as a profession

•  Interpreter-a person whose work is to translate from one language to another in the oral form

• Pilot- a person who is qualified to operate an aircraft or spacecraft in flight

• Postman- a person who carries and delivers mail as a profession
