On the morning od 31 October 2003, Bethany Hamilton and some friends decided to go surfing. The sky was clear, the sun was shining and it was a perfect day for enjoying the big waves bear the island od Kaukai, Hawaii. Bethany's parents are both keen surfers. As a baby, Bethany liked to splash in the shallow water. She started surfing at the age of five. By thirteen, she was one of the best teenage surfers in the world, and was planning to become a professional surfer, Then the ashark attack happened. Less than a year after the accient she won first place in a surfing competition in Hawaii.
