Our neighborhood in Tampa, Florida has a flock of peacocks that are semi-wild. A few weeks ago as I (1) (was driving) home I (2) (noticed) one of them staring intently at something next to the sidewalk. As I (3) (got) closer I saw that the object the bird (4) (was looking at) was a two foot iguana. I (5) (parked) my car and (6) (walked) back over to the spot. The iguana (7) (was lying) quietly in the grass. I (8) (took off) my T-shirt and slowly (9) (approached) it. A couple (10) (was sitting) in a car across the street. The man yelled, 'Is that your iguana?' I yelled back, 'It will, if I (11) (am able to) catch it.' I picked it up and kept it in the bathtub until my girlfriend came home. Since neither of us knew anything about iguanas, we went to a pet store that (12)(specializes) in reptiles. The owner looked over the iguana and told us several things; it was in good health, but a little dehydrated and (13)(had been living) in the wild for the past five months. It was a 'girl' about two years old and had probably (14)(been abused) and (15) (had escaped from) it's previous owner. Though it is warm in Florida, it (16) (would not survive) the winter, so it was lucky that I(17) (had caught) it. We named her 'Lizzy the Lizard'. Lizzy (18) (had grown accustomed) to her freedom over the past few months and (19) (did not like) the confines of her new aquarium at first. We bought her a leash and harness and let her get out by taking walks. She (20) (is doing well) now and (21)(seems to be) happy with us.
My friend James is really nice. He tries to do his best at school and he is very good at Maths and Physics. But he is a person who aways "troubles trouble". He always argues with the teachers about his marks, and naturally it's the teachers who always win these arguments. James is often late for his classes because something always happens to him on the way to school. Once he missed his bus, the next time he fell asleep in the bus and missed his stop, then he was locked in the school cloakroom. He gets into trouble much more often than anybody else from the class, people say that he is out of luck. That is why I worry about him when he is out of the classroom.
