The United States of America lies in the North America. It is washed by the Pacific Ocean in the west and the Atlantic Ocean in the east. It has sea borders with Canada, Mexico and Russia.
The landscape of the country varies: there are mountain chains, plains, canyons and deserts. The highest mountains in the country are the Rocky Mountains or the Rockies.
There are a lot of lakes and rivers in the USA. The Mississippi which joins the Missouri is the longest river in the United States. It flows to the south and runs into the Gulf of Mexico at New Orleans.
The region of the Great Lakes is a system of five great lakes (Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario). The famous Niagara Falls are situated in New York State and are the biggest falls in the world.
The climate of the USA varies. The country is situated mainly in the temperate and subtropical zones.
The United States is rich in mineral resources such as: coal, iron, gas, oil and different metals. There are silver and gold deposits in the United States, too
