The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on the British Isles. British Isles consist of Great Britain, Ireland and about five thousands of small islands. The total area is over 244, 000 square kilometers. The United Kingdom (UK) consists of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland .The capital of the country is London. The British Isles are washed by the Atlantic Ocean, Irish Sea and English Chanel. The climate of the country is mild. Winter is not very cold and summer is not very hot.

The population of the country is about 58 million. About 80% of the population is urban.

It is one of the largest producers of machinery, textile and different equipments in the world.

The most developed industry is shipbuilding.

In law the Head of the country is Queen, but in practice the Head of the country is the Prime Minister and the Government. The British Parliament consists of two chambers: The House of Lords and the House of Commons.
