The hare and the tortoise. once upon a time, there was a very fast hare and a very slow tortoise. the hare always laughed at the tortoise. one day the tortoise surprised them all: let’s have a race tomorrow then. the hare jumped forward. it was a very sunny day and the hare was very hot. there’s a tree. i can rest under it. a few hours later, the tortoise passed the sleeping hare. suddenly, the hare opened his eyes and looked around. he saw the tortoise at the finish line! the tortoise was the winner! надо по только буквами!

I would like to tell you about a great Maslenitsa celebration in Russia. It is celebrated on last Sunday of March, when winter is losing its rights and spring comes. On this day there are Russian great folk festivals with horses, getting a living rooster from the post, a lot of jokes, songs and dances. On the streets of cities, towns and villages different mummers walk, they offer everybody hot tea and Russian pancakes with different toppings: honey, jam, butter, eggs! But most importantly is the effigy of winter that is burnt  and everyone rejoices the beautiful spring coming. 

Я хочу рассказать о замечательном празднике Масленица. Его отмечают в последнее воскресенье марта, когда зима сдает свои права, и приходит весна. В этот день в России большие народные гулянья с катанием на лошадях, доставанием живого петуха со столба, шутками, песнями и плясками. На улицах городов и сел ходят ряженые, всем предлагают всем горячий чай и русские блины с разными начинками: медом, вареньем, маслом, икрой! Но самое главное, на площади сжигают чучело зимы и радуются наступлению красавицы-весны.

                                        My Favourite Holiday

I like a lot of holidays but my favourite one is New Year's Day.  It is a national holiday celebrated on January 1st, the first day of the New Year. Many people celebrate New Year’s Day with their families.  

A few weeks before the holiday cities and towns of our country turn into a wonderland of light, sparkles and decorations. We can see Father Frosts with their Snegurockas in the streets and hear the season songs everywhere. I like walking around my city before the holiday, soaking in the New Year feeling.

On the eve of the holiday people in my country clean their homes, prepare gifts for their friends and relatives, decorate New Year trees and cook lots of food for the New Year’s Eve dinner.

It is also a tradition to listen to our President's New Year message, and then listen to the bells chiming marking the start of the New Year. After that people go to watch fireworks, concerts or stay at home and watch New Year TV-shows. The celebration continues until the morning of January 1.

                                      Мой любимый праздник

Мне нравятся много праздников, но мой любимый - Новый год. Это национальный праздник, который отмечается 1 января, в первый день нового года. Многие люди празднуют Новый год со своими семьями.

За несколько недель до праздника города и поселки нашей страны превращаются в сказочную страну с огоньками, блестками и украшениями. На улицах можно увидеть Дедов Морозов с их Снегурочками, и повсюду слышны песни про Новый год. Я люблю гулять по городу перед праздником, впитывая ощущение Нового года.

Накануне праздника жители моей страны убирают свои дома, готовят подарки для своих друзей и родственников, украшают ёлки и готовят много еды для новогоднего ужина.

У нас есть традиция слушать новогоднее послание нашего президента, а затем слушать бой колоколов, знаменующий начало нового года. После этого люди идут смотреть фейерверки, концерты или остаются дома и смотрят новогодние телешоу. Празднование продолжается до утра 1 января.
