PRESENT SIMPLE – одно из грамматических времен, которое чаще всего употребляется в английском языке. Невозможно представить изучение английского языка без Present Simple.

Само название Present Simple переводится как “настоящее простое” время. Иногда вместо слова Simple можно встретить термин Indefinite, но вы должны знать, что в контексте рассматриваемого времени это взаимозаменяемые слова. Тем не менее, в современной грамматике термин Simple неоспоримо превалирует.

Само слово Simple (простой) указывает на то, что это время образуется при простой (одной) глагольной формы. Например, предложение “Я говорю” в Present Simple будет выглядеть как I speak, т.е. оно образовано при одной формы speak. Другие времена для своего образования требуют вс глаголы. Например, то же самое предложение I speak в Present Continuous представится как I am speaking, а во времени Present Perfect – I have spoken.
