Most programs have compulsory and elective courses. Electives are courses (subjects) you can choose, while compulsory courses are mandatory courses that you must study meet your program requirements. Electives, when added to the compulsory courses, make up the total number of units needed to complete your degree. Electives allow you to study topics that interest you. Depending on your program, you may be able to select electives from other faculties. Your program rules specify how many electives you can study and where these can be selected from.
