Silver medalist of two world championships (Budapest, 1997; Houston, 1999); bronze medalist of the XXVI Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta (1996). Winner of the bronze medal at the World Cup in Zhengding (1998) and the title of "Best boxer in Asia 1999".
Yermakhan carried the flag of Kazakhstan twice at the Summer Olympics (1996 and 2000).
From 2002 to 2004 - head coach of the national boxing team.
