Built in the late 1800s, Juma Musjid Mosque was the first mosque built in the Natal region. In 1904 two minarets on Dr.Yusuf Dadoo Street were added to the building. However, the church was rebuilt in 1927 by Payne and Payne. The mosque is a beautiful blend of Islamic decorative elements and the Vernacular architectural style.
