George Washington was the first President of the United States of America. He was born on February 22nd, 1732 in Virginia. The Americans often call this man “The Father of our country”. And, indeed, he was one of the Founding Fathers of the USA. Before becoming the president George Washington was the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army. This prominent man was born in a wealthy family in provincial gentry. His family owned tobacco plantations and had slaves.
