Marta Hello! I go to a theatre school. My friend and I love school. Today we're practising a new
show! We're having lunch now. We all stay at
school at lunchtime. It's raining outside.

Michelle It's night here and I'm in my room. I'm
learning to be a mechanic. In the morning I go to
a technical college, and in the afternoon I work
in a garage. I'm not doing homework now :-), but
sometimes I have to study at night.

My mum is cooking breakfast! This year at
school we're learning to cook - I love it! I want
to be a famous chef. I practise cooking at the
weekend for my family.
David Hi everyone! I'm always at home at this
time because it's very hot outside. I have school
from 8 am to 1.30 pm. Now I'm relaxing after
lunch with my family. At 5 pm I usually start
my homework. I'm working hard for exams at
the moment. I want to be a doctor and I need
excellent exam results to go to medical school.

 I study many subjects at school. But best of all I like English. I am very grateful to (1) my English teacher who evoked my interest in this subject. She always speaks about the importance of learning foreign languages. English is not difficult for me and I cope with all home tasks without any effort.
   But I try to do my best by reading and learning additional (2) texts and words to improve my knowledge of English. I am fond of English literature and read a lot of stories by English writers. It is difficult for me to read the books in the original (3) and I read adapted (4) ones. I have many cassettes at home and try to listen to them as much as possible.
   After finishing school I am going to enter the Foreign Languages Department of a Pedagogical University. That's why I work hard at my English on my own.
   Some of us do not want to read much in another language and do not want to take a foreign language examination, but everyone likes to be able to speak it. In that case it is a good thing to join a conversation club whose aim (5) is the use of the language in everyday situations. Ordinary English lessons and the conversation club meetings will help us to learn to express our opinions and feelings, to give and receive information, to say what we want to say. I like my English lessons very much and attend them with great pleasure.
