The academic stage starts with a law degree or graduate diploma in law. LLB or BA is a three-year law degree course. It involves taking seven legal subjects

The vocational stage involves taking the BPTC one year full-time and two years part-time. The course requires you to study knowledge – based subjects and skill-based subjects.

On-the-job training involves doing what is known as pupillage. It consists of save six-month periods. In the first period, you follow the barrister around the court or assist a barrister in doing things like drafting legal document, writing legal pinions or attending. In the second, you will have your own cases.

After completing the pupilage, you will get the practicing certificate.
