I live in the city of Orsk. It is in the Orenburg area. Orsk is the 80th in Russia according to its population . Orsk is considered to be the second most important commercial centre in the Orenburg area. The pride of Orsk is the Orsk State Pedagogical College, as well as the branch of the Orenburg State University and the branch of the Orenburg State College of Management, as their students take prize-winning places in regional and All-Russia Olympiads. Another pride of Orsk is its ice-hockey team «South-Urals Mountains» which plays its home matches in the "Anniversary" sports palace. As Orsk is one of the largest transport centres in Russia, a lot of passenger and freight traffic is carried out through it. The mazing peaks of the Ural mountains can be seen fom the western spart of Orsk. In our district you can see a wide variety of mountain grasses and trees. In the spring you can find wild-growing tulips. The local weather is basically pleasing and cloudless. There are more sunny days in the year than cloudy ones. The ecological condition of the Orsk environment is directly dependent on industrial pollution. The air of Orsk is consideredto the most polluted in the Orenburg area.
My Favourite Book (3) My favourite book is "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I first discovered these stories when I was about twelve and I've loved them ever since. They're brilliantly written, full of bizarre crimes and they've got a terrific Victorian atmosphere. When you read them you really feel like you've been carried back to nineteenth-century London. All the twentieth century detectives like Miss Marple and Inspector Morse seem really boring compared to Sherlock Holmes. That's where Conan Doyle, really makes you believe that Holmes is unique — a genius with amazing mental powers. Normally I only read detective stories once. I mean, why read them again when you know what happens in the end? With the Sherlock Holmes stories, though, its different. Each time I re-read them I discover more and more to enjoy.
