Tasmania is ап island in the south of Australia. It is the smallest state of Australia. Il’s the same size as England. The state owes its name to the Dutch navigator-explorer Abel Janszon Tasman, who in 1642 became the first European to discover the island. Until 1856, however, the island was known as Van Diemen’s Land. This state also differs from the other Australian states. There are no deserts in Tasmania. It often rains, both in winter and summer. Only half a million people live in Tasmania, and a large number of the island is still covered with beautiful wild forests. These forests are full of wonderful flowers and interesting animals. The island of Tasmania contains some of the most spectacular mountains, lakes, and coastal sceneries in the country, and much of its land is protected in national parks and reserves. You can also find here a lot of pure, remote and desolate beaches. Among them Hazard beach, Ray of Fires and Binalong Bay. You can also enjoy the nature at Freycinet National Park, spectacular place with pure white beaches and dry eucalypt forest. 9
The history of Tasmania, like a history of all Australia, is rather sad. Once upon a time, there was living a nation of Tasmanian people. They spoke their own
I am writing from Spain to tell you about my holiday. We stay in a five-star hotel in the centre of Madrid, Madrid is looking fantastic at this time of the year and I enjoy every minute of our trip! At the moment my mother is doing the shopping for souvenirs and my father is having coffee on the balcony. You know he hates shopping. The weather is rather cool these days and perfect for doing sightseeing. We spend most of the days walking around the city and taking photos. We are thinking about going to Barcelona tomorrow. I hope to see the famous Catedral de Barcelona and my parents want to visit Gran Teatre del Liceu. Food here is very tasty. The Spanish eat lots of vegetables and fruit and they cook delicious omelets and paella. I am afraid I've put on weight because I eat so much here! We leave Spain next Friday. I love here so much that I don’t want to return home!
