A path across Canada Thirteen-year-old Kara Finch writes about The Great Trail - a footpath that goes across Canada. The Great Trail goes from one side of Canada to the other. At 24,000 km, it is the longest tral in the world. The Great Trail project began in 1992 and took 25 years to complete. It opened in 2017, exactly 150 years after Canada became one country. The Great Trail is actually lots of paths joined together. You can cycle, walk or horse-ride on most of it, but there are parts where the only way you can travel is by boat. And there are others where the trail is part of the highway, which doesn't sound very safe to me. My father and I spent a day walking along part of the Great Trail that was surprisingly busy. We were told you don't usually see bears when there are lots of people, but we did. It was moving through the trees, quite close to us, and I felt a little afraid. "I don't think it's hungry!' laughed my dad. At lunchtime, we talked to an old man on the trail. Dad asked him if he thought the path was going to help Canadians learn more about their countryside. 'Not really,' he said. "We've always loved to be outdoors. But it will bring us tourists from around the world, which is important.' In the future, the path will probably change, and new parts may open. We saw nothing to tel us we were on the Great Trail, which is a shame. I know there's information on the website, but it's good to know when you're walking on a special path. They need to add some signs,
Trip to Odessa. Once with my younger sister Olya, my mom and dad went to Odessa. We arrived by train to Moscow. It was a hot summer morning. The sun was shining bright. And here we were at the airport. This is the first time I've ever seen a real plane. He was big, yellow. And it was written in large, bright, blue letters: "Moscow-Odessa" I immediately wanted to see what's inside this big "bird". But my mother explained to me that first you need to register. And we went on a big corridor to a table where the big number of the people was crowded. We took turns. Soon, the line approached us and we're done. Suddenly, I heard the announcement of the landing of passengers on the plane "Moscow-Odessa". Dad hastened to hand over our bags to the guards. Everything went well and we got on the plane. I'm on the plane for the first time. It's cozy. Leather, comfortable chairs, overhead fan, and such a beautiful view from the window. Then I turned my head and saw the menu. The menu had pretty much everything from chocolates to hot pork cutlets, even ice cream. I immediately asked mom to buy us Alcoy for strawberry ice cream as it was very hot. The flight attendant announced takeoff. And she handed out whole packages. When the plane took off I was a little scared, but soon the fear had passed, and I quietly ate ice cream and looked out the window. The view from the window was very beautiful. We flew as if on the clouds, below the earth seemed to be small-small, and people are quite tiny. I didn't even notice how we got here. Dad took out our Luggage and we went to catch a taxi to get to the hotel. And here we are at the destination. In front of us stood a large house. He was like a castle, and when we walked in, I almost fainted. So here were all beautiful, eye-catching. We settled in the room, took a shower and went to bed immediately, as we were very tired from the road. In the morning we went to a special dining room for guests and went for a walk. We walked past the ancient places, went to the Museum and even managed to swim in the fountain. Afternoon, after lunch we went to the beach. I'm Olka and I swam in the sea. We had a lot of fun. Then my mother taught me how to swim, and Olya and my father built a sand castle on the beach. The night was a success! Me and dad went to the cinema and mum Olga went to the zoo for children from one year to seven years. We had a lot of fun in Odessa. It was an unforgettable vacation in my life and I hope that once again I will visit this magnificent city!
