There are monuments in our world that can impress a lot. It’s not mandatory has to be a historical monument, but something really special.
I like different cathedrals. For example Duomo in Italy or Taj Mahal in India. There is one interesting monument in the USA that I like a lot. It’s the Statue of Liberty. And I would really like to see this place personally.
It’s a neoclassic sculpture in New York Harbor. The Statue was dedicated in October 28 in 1886. It was built by French sculptors Frdric Auguste Bartholdi and Gustave Eiffel.
The exact location is Liberty island Manhattan. The height of the statue is 46 meters, but from the ground level it’s more than 90 meters. Few times the monument was restored and the last time was in 2012. Every year million of people come here to see this place. And if you ask any tourist which place they want to visit first, most of them would like to see first the Statue Liberty. And if you watch any American movie 9 times from 10 there will be the Statue of Liberty there.
In 1984 the monument was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is described as a "masterpiece of the human spirit" that symbolize peace, human rights, liberty, democracy and opportunities.
I think it’s pretty big and impressive monument. I have read a lot about it and I know there are always a lot of people there. The interesting thing is that the Statue of Liberty is depicted on the coin of 1$. I look for someone who is going to the USA and bring for me that coin.
In general I think that the Statue of Liberty is one of the most interesting monuments. People say you can see it from the plane. I hope one day I will go to the USA and I will be able to see it personally.
