Ex 2
Voluntourism is a new way of traveling that is becoming increasing popular around the world. Voluntourism is when people volunteer overseas while they travel. It is similar to “eco-tourism” in a way, because the objective of improving lives is still present. But unlike eco-tourism, voluntourism is aimed at helping other people rather than helping the environment. Voluntourism involves tourists going on vacation or rather, missions to help out on a particular project.
Ex 3
1. In the past, volunteer projects lasted several weeks or months and were mainly for students or qualified people, such as nurses.
2. Currently, however, there are many short-term volunteer vacations for almost all interests and age groups, including family vacations. Instead of swimming in the hotel’s pool or sunbathing on the beach, you can go to South Africa to study rhinos, work in the elephant sanctuary in Thailand, or help with construction in Latin America.
3. Children can participate by performing simple tasks, such as cleaning beaches, planting trees, or simply spending time working with local children.
4. Meeting people from all over the world and getting to know different cultures, they learn to consider their problems in the future, especially if they are used to an easy consumer lifestyle. They learn that annoying things in their daily lives, such as housework or homework, are nothing compared to the problems that people from poorer countries face every day.
5. Volunteers carefully researched their holidays and chose a project that would really benefit the local community.
6.Some people believe that this can do more harm than good. Volunteers believe that they make a positive contribution by bringing money to local communities and helping with development projects, but critics say that volunteers do not have the skills and time to truly understand the problems and contribute. In some cases, they can even replace local workers and cause further poverty.
