Глагол относится к последнему субъекту в предложении. Поэтому ставится в соответствующую форму.
В русском языке все наоборот. Правильно говорить: Ни Энн, ни ее сестра не знают ответа. То есть - Они не знают.
Если мы хотим сказать, что работали кем-то, то в таком случае используется as. На русский язык данное предложение так: Летом Энн работала официанткой в местном кафе. Для того, чтобы форма была более понятной и запоминающейся для русскоговорящих людей, рекомендую переводить для себя как: Летом Энн работала в качестве официантки в местном кафе. Таким образом вы запомните, что необходимо поставить as перед профессией (как официантка).
